Frequently Asked Questions

"How long have you been in business?"

Bentley Homes, the custom home building company, was founded in 1994, however Philip Robbins has been in the construction business since 1985, and Menny Rosenbaum since 1986.

"Are your prices competitive?"

Absolutely!   We send all of our jobs out for bid, before we provide you with the estimate cost of building your home.  We have also built a relationship with our proven vendors and suppliers over the years.  All this means that you get the benefit of all the savings we receive.  Also, as a small business with personal on-the-job supervision, we operate more efficiently and are able to cut the high costs of overhead and superintendents and material waste on your job.

Remember though, you can build the same home for less if you use inferior materials and products. If quality of your home is not important and your goal is solely to build cheaply, you will need to use cheap vendors and products. Some of these are easy to differentiate, such as the finishes on your home, but others, such as framing and foundation work are not.  So if you compare one of our quality homes with an inferior one, you may well find that ours costs more per square foot. But if you compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges, you'll find that you can't get a better deal than what we can offer you.

"What about hidden costs?"

Before we provide you with the bid for your home, we go through an extensive computerized estimation process.  We are completely upfront about costs, charges and allowances (we provide you with the list of allowances as well).   Our goal is to make sure that you are well informed to make the financial decisions on your new home and are not surprised at any stage of this process.  If there are design or finishes changes made after the initial bid is accepted, we discuss them thoroughly with you and make sure to come up with the most cost-efficient solution.   We strive to always conduct ourselves honestly, fairly and with integrity.  Our reputation depends on it!  We don’t need to hide costs from you, it is important to us that you know everything we do!

"Who can I reach if I have a question or problem during construction?"

You can always call Menny Rosenbaum or Philip Robbins directly on their cell phones (and they almost always answer the phone!).   Because Menny or Philip will personally supervise each aspect of the construction of your home on daily basis, they are  always well informed about the job site and issues that arise.  They are very happy to address any questions, concerns or issues pertaining to the construction of your home.  That is the personal touch you get with choosing Bentley Homes to build your home!

Do you set up a specific schedule to communicate with your clients during construction?

Normally we have a weekly meeting with our clients during the construction process to answer questions, discuss progress and address any issues that were encountered during the week.   We are very flexible, however, and can be reached on the cell or office phone at any time between these scheduled meeting.  If need be, we can meet with our clients on a daily basis.  This is the advantage of having a builders who are personally involved with every aspect of construction on daily basis.

"How willing are you to accommodate our particular needs and interests?"

Very willing. Extremely willing. That's the central theme of our philosophy at Bentley Homes. Our goal is to satisfy each and every client to the best of our ability.  We work closely with each of our clients to thoroughly understand and implement their ideas and dreams.

"We are on a budget and are not able to afford a luxury home, but we still want a quality home. Would you be willing to work with our budget constraints?

Absolutely!  We know that not every client can afford all the bells and whistles they might desire, but they still want a quality home and a piece of mind that their home is being built correctly. If you want a quality, custom home, come see us. Part of our flexibility is in being able to find creative solutions to people's unique circumstances. There are lots of little tricks one can use to cut back on cost without sacrificing value and quality.

"Who can I reach if I have a question or problem after the construction is completed?"

You can still call Menny Rosenbaum or Philip Robbins directly on their cell or their office number.  Just because you moved into your home, doesn’t mean that your relationship with Bentley Homes is over.   They are very happy to address any questions, concerns or issues of their clients, even after they move into their new homes.   We build lasting relationships with our clients and some of them even become friends.

"Do you belong to the GHBA?"

Yes, we are members of the Greater Houston Building Association.  They are an important organization and an information resource for both builders and customers as well as contract materials. We are always a member in good standing with the GHBA and have helped with many of their functions.
